Environment Development
On March 1 and 2, 2008, a two day Bio-diversity awareness program was conducted at VIDIYAL training centre, Rasingapuram.Activities set out in proposal completed
Biodiversity – role of women, techniques of biodiversity like vermicomposting, kitchen gardening, and medicinal plants cultivation.
Target group reached :Rural women (General public) -100 Self Help Group Women – 100 Total – 200
Area Covered (District/ Villages, etc) : Silamalai, Sillamarathupatti, and Maniampatti
Response of the participants
The participants keenly listened the speeches of the guest speakers. They raised good questions during the talk
We learnt two lessons
Members show interest in bio-diversity
If imparted properly, the knowledge of the members can be well increased in a short duration
Lecture, Demonstration and notice distribution were the main methodologies of educating the public on bio-diversity. The funding from Ministry of Environment and Forest was channelized through PEACE, Trust, Dinidgul.
