General Awareness Development

VIDIVELLI, an offshoot of VIDIYAL celebrated the World Women’s Day function A handbill with a write-up on the importance of the day and women issues was distributed to all participants. Several women personalities of the location talked on various contemporary issue of women.

VIDIYAL conducted World AIDS Day at its head office in Rasingapuram. The resource persons talked the following key point on the evils of stigma and discrimination.

	Severely hamper efforts to prevent new HIV infections, especially among vulnerable groups at high risk (sex workers and their clients, injecting drug users and their partners and men having sex with men),
	Contribute to the social rejection of people living with HIV and AIDS, causing personal and economic stress,
	Compound people’s fear HIV and AIDS because of the association with sex, drugs, illness and dealth,
	Affect rural women whose livelihoods and survival are under threat, and Prevent access to treatment and care of HIV and AIDS, and other services
